Core or Senior Occupational Therapist - Health of Older People (HOP)

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist with an interest in rehabilitation and geriatrics to join our Health of Older People inpatient services based at Middlemore Hospital.  

As one of a team of Occupational Therapists, you will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a clinically and culturally diverse client group. You will use your expertise to provide occupationally focused assessments and interventions based on meaningful occupations for older adult clients requiring rehabilitation including orthopaedic, neurological, general medical and surgical conditions. The role involves working autonomously and as part of an inter-disciplinary team. Counties Manukau fully supports ongoing education and development of all employees including regular supervision and weekly in-services.

You will be involved in the supervision and development of rotational staff, rehab assistants and occupational therapy students. There is scope for involvement in leadership, service development projects, staff education and quality improvement work. You will be professionally supported by a section head and other experienced occupational therapists as well as the wider interdisciplinary team.

Essential:

• NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with a current practising certificate 

• Minimum 2 years Occupational Therapy experience for core clinician

• Minimum 5 years Occupational Therapy experience for senior clinician

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team

• Full, clean driver's licence

Desired:

• Experience working in rehabilitation 

• Accessible accreditation in wheelchairs and seating

• Experience supervising students and junior staff
