The Opportunity 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic Speech Language Therapist to join the Allied Health SLT team to work with the cleft lip and palate team. We are looking for a Speech Language Therapist with advanced skills in the assessment and management of speech impairment associated with cleft palate and velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) under the care of the cleft palate service. A working knowledge of videofluoroscopy is preferred.

You will be able to work autonomously, as well as be part of a multidisciplinary and wider Speech Language Therapy team. This position will provide an opportunity to work with the multidisciplinary cleft team in outpatient clinics. Ongoing support will be provided as required. There will be opportunities for on-going professional development, peer review and formal supervision which will be well supported.

Essential Skills

The ideal person for this role will have the following skills and attributes:

• Membership with NZSTA with a current Annual Practicing Certificate 
• A working knowledge of videofluoroscopy
• A minimum of 6 years post qualification clinical experience working with children as a speech language therapist
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience working with children with cleft palate and/or VPI
• A proven record of accomplishment in driving service development and implementing change/improvements
• Drive, energy, initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
