Community Midwife (Full/Part-Time, Casual) Community Midwifery, Women's Health, Te Whatu Ora

We are seeking Midwives for our Community Teams as well as those who have a special interest in working with pregnant and postnatal women who are in Auckland Women’s Regional Correctional Facility and who would also like to focus on our work with the National Refugee Resettlement programme which has its base in our area. Both are areas of complex and interesting midwifery care.
The Community Midwifery Service embraces a midwife-led/woman focused model of care enabling continuity of carer during the antenatal and postnatal period. Many of the women have complex health and social needs, so a keen interest in learning the skills and knowledge to undertake joint working with a number of diverse agencies to get the best outcomes for women will be a central part of this role.
The hours of work are between Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4.30 pm with some negotiated flexibility in how you arrange your working hours. You may be required to work one day during a weekend on a rostered basis approximately once in every 5-6 weeks.
We are looking to recruit an experienced midwife who has already been working in the community for the DHB or as a self-employed midwife for 3 or more years.
Community Midwives are supported by our Specialist Diabetes and Maternal Fetal Medicine Team colleagues as well as by a Social Worker and Community Health Workers.
As the focus of community midwifery work is antenatal and postnatal care, you will have the opportunity to be supported in providing occasional intra-partum care for women from the prison in order to meet the requirement of the midwifery scope of practice
Essential:
- NZ Registered Midwife
- Current Practicing Certificate
- Current NZ drivers licence
- A minimum of 36 months clinical midwifery experience
