Primary Care in the Youth Justice Residences

 Centre for Youth Health

 Up to 0.5 FTE Permanent Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join the Kidz First Centre for Youth Health to work with young people in the Youth Justice and Care and Protection residences

At Kidz First Centre for Youth Health we believe that all young people have different strengths. This is a great opportunity to become part of a team which walks alongside young people and provides primary health care as part of a wider wrap around service to young people in the Youth Justice and Care and Protection residences in Counties Manukau.

This position works alongside the nursing team to provide primary health care to the young people at the youth justice residences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing advanced assessments for new admissions to the residences

  • Providing primary healthcare clinics for the young people in the residences

  • Collaborating with the forensic mental health team and the rest of the health team

  • Being involved in discharge planning to ensure that the young people have the care required when they are discharged back to the community.

 

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse Practitioner (Primary care) in NZ with a current annual practicing certificate

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Have a strong interest in working with young people

 

Ideally:

  • Experienced in youth health

  • Familiar with Medtech
