Community Co-ordinator, Bowel Screening Programme

This position is responsible for the Promotion, Education and Follow-up/Support of participants into the Bowel Screening Programme (BSP) within Counties Manukau. This role will focus directly on engaging, educating and encouraging our priority group populations, in particular Maaori and Pacific, to complete their test kits and participate within the bowel screening programme. This also includes providing support to attend colonoscopy, alternative assessment or first treatment appointments. Focus will be given to follow-up on priority groups that have failed to complete a screening FIT (faecal immunochemical test). This service forms part of the National Bowel Screening Programme (NBSP).
The preferred applicant for this role would have proven experience in establishing and maintaining quality systems and quality improvement processes to ensure that all participants are followed up appropriately. You would need to be a confident communicator, a self-starter, patient, discreet and tactful.
This position will be based at Manukau Health Park and in the community.
Experience and Skills required:
- Relevant Health or Community Health Worker qualification
- 2-3 years experience working in the public health, community health or primary care setting
- Experience working with Pacific, Maaori and multicultural communities
- Have knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Maaori and Maaori protocols
- Ability to speak Te Reo Maaori or a Pacific language
- Full, clean drivers licence
